150th Anniversary of the Universal Postal Union (UPU)

The Universal Postal Union (UPU) is a United Nations specialised agency headquartered in the Swiss capital, Bern. Founded in 1874 and celebrating its 150th anniversary in 2024, it is the primary forum for cooperation between postal sector players and helps to ensure a truly universal network of modern postal products and services.   With its forward-looking vision, the UPU’s strategy also addresses today’s challenges, related to the rapid growth of e-commerce and the need to develop secure and inclusive digital solutions for all. By embracing innovation and promoting the development of cost-effective technological solutions, the Strategy aims to enhance postal security and digital transformation while also prioritising environmental sustainability. The UPU member states have also recently adopted a policy to increase and deepen its engagement with wider postal sector players, outside of the UPU network of designated operators, with a view to bolstering the development of a truly interconnected, efficient and universal postal service for all.

In commemoration of its 150th anniversary in 2024, a first day cover has been released featuring the 150th Anniversary of the Universal Postal Union stamp. This stamp serves as a tribute to the UPU's enduring legacy and its continued efforts to promote international cooperation in postal services. As the UPU celebrates this landmark occasion, it reflects on its past accomplishments while looking ahead to the future, where it will continue to play a vital role in shaping global postal, communication and connectivity.

Fake profile claiming to be Mauritius Post Ltd on Facebook

We would like to bring to your attention the existence of a fraudulent profile on Facebook, which falsely claims to be representing Mauritius Post Ltd.

Mauritius Post Ltd informs its esteemed customers and the general public that, due to a substantial increase in the volume of air parcels and small packets, combined with limited cargo space on Air Mauritius flights to Rodrigues, the regular daily dispatch of these items has been temporarily suspended.  During this period, priority will be given to EMS services and letter mail, while the transportation of parcels and small packets will be subject to delays. Customers intending to send parcels using Colipost boxes (sizes S, M, L, and XL) are advised to use the sea freight service for shipments to Rodrigues.  We would like to reassure you that all parcels, up to a maximum weight of 10 kg, will continue to be accepted via Surface Mail. Mauritius Post Ltd has put measures in place to ensure that surface mail dispatches to Rodrigues occur at least twice a month to minimise disruptions.  We sincerely regret any inconvenience this temporary suspension may cause and appreciate your understanding and patience. Mauritius Post Ltd remains committed to providing timely updates on the situation as developments unfold.  Thank you for your continued cooperation.
